Motorists attempting to get in and out of our village via the A52 this afternoon have found themselves diverted following a serious accident on Loughborough Road.
Emergency services were scrambled to the A60 in Ruddington at around 2.50pm today after reports of an overturned car. Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue said that it involved just one vehicle in collision with a tree.
The road was then closed by Nottinghamshire Police in both directions between Kirk Lane and the Nottingham Knight roundabout whilst the driver was treated at the scene. He was then handed into the care of East Midland Ambulance Service before being taken to hospital “with injuries not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering.”
Boxing Day bus passengers were also disrupted as diversions were put in place for Ruddington’s Green 10 buses up to the end of service – meaning access only to village centre stops via Wilford Road instead whilst recovery and investigative work was completed. Loughborough Road finally reopened to traffic at around 10.30pm.
If you witnessed anything which could help police with their enquiries into the accident you should contact them on 101. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
